Prof Lam’s distinguished career and dedication to the innovation and technology sector make him an invaluable addition to the Gravity Capital team, where he will steer the company’s mission to create a positive societal impact through technology investments.
Ir Prof Alan Lam is a luminary in the field of technology and education. As an adjunct professor at CUHK, CityU, and PolyU, he has been pivotal in supervising PhD research and imparting knowledge on AI and IoT technologies, as well as entrepreneurship. His academic contributions have been instrumental in shaping future innovators and tech entrepreneurs.
In 2004, Prof Lam’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to found Sengital Limited, which under his leadership, achieved remarkable success in the form of numerous technology awards and patents. His expertise in the industry is further recognized by his role in the Innovation and Technology Fund Vetting Committee, where he has been approving grants for over a decade, fueling the growth of innovative ventures.
Prof Lam’s commitment extends to his current position as the President of the Steering Committee for the HKSTP Startups Alumni Association, and his active participation as an executive member of the HKEIA and HKETA. He is also the founding president of various innovation and technology associations, which positions him as a key influencer in Hong Kong’s tech industry.
His tenure on the Board of Directors of ASTRI and his chairmanship at the LSCM R&D Centre demonstrate his strategic vision and leadership in advancing technological research and development. Prof Lam’s accolades, including being named one of Hong Kong’s ten outstanding young persons in 2015, receiving the Chief Executive’s Commendation for Community Service in 2019, and his appointment as Justices of the Peace, all underscore his profound impact on the community.
Since beginning his angel investment journey in 2014 and joining Gravity Capital Partners Co. Ltd in 2021, Prof Lam has been an advocate for innovative startups and has contributed to the industry’s growth with keen insights and strategic funding.
